Presidents Report
As a Committee, there are many jobs that require us to give up our time to assist the Club in running smoothly, from running the canteen, ordering supplies, ensuring that the ground is prepared for play to setting up and pulling down. Without this assistance, there would simply be no Ruse Football Club for players. Of course, all of these tasks are undertaken on a voluntary basis (no we don’t get paid!) and on top of our regular employment. All of our coaches and managers also give up their time to assist teams.
So, if you as a parent, or player have some time and can see that things around Jackson Park are busy, please offer to assist. Or, if you have some time during the week, give one of us a call and ask if there is anything you can do that might ease our burden. We may not always have something for you to do, but believe me the offer is always appreciated.
It has come to my attention that some players are being allowed to take their playing shirt home. It is Club policy that ALL shirts in a strip remain together – that is someone takes the whole strip and washes it and then returns it ready for the following week. Over the years we have had a number of shirts ‘disappear’ when a player does not return to the Club and has a shirt. To replace a shirt or an entire strip is expensive and we would rather spend your money on more productive issues. Please ensure that you return your playing shirt at the end of the game.
Yours in sport.

Presidents Report
You got to love an underdog story and I’ve got two great stories for you this week.
Our All Age Ladies Division 4 team played Uniting Church up at Lynwood Park on Sunday at 9:00am. Due to a number of players not being available, running late, etc., the team took the park with only eight players. The coach, Pete Murray was a little concerned but said, “let’s contain it – we don’t want to get beat 10 or 11 nil”. Well, they didn’t just contain it. The eight players out there, played their hearts out and after 30 minutes the score was actually 1-0 our way! A couple more players arrived and by half time we were leading about 4-0, (sorry girls I can’t remember exactly what the score was at half time). The other team were not happy and the final result of 10-3 was a huge credit to the spirit of the Ruse team.
The other story is our M-League and our M-League Reserves teams. They played at home for the first time this year on Sunday. These boys are a credit to the Club. They have a minimum of players registered, and each week many players back up and play some, if not all of two games. What with suspensions? (We won’t go there!) and injuries, on Sunday, first grade started with only four pairs of fresh legs. Every other player had played some or all of Reserve Grade. In the end, Reserves only went down 1-0 and First Grade won 2-1. Absolutely fabulous effort.
These teams epitomise what we are about at Ruse – They would have loved to have more players at the start, but they didn’t, they would have loved to have reserves to call upon, but they didn’t, they could have thrown in the towel but they didn’t, they dug deep and let the chips fall as they may. Congratulation to Pete Murray and Barry Davis. Your teams did you proud.
If you get the chance to come down to Jackson Park on a Sunday afternoon and watch our M-League play, I can recommend it as a great game. The next home game is Sunday, 6 May 2012.

Welcome
Welcome to our players (both new & old) to the Ruse Football Club for the 2012 season.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Riaz Jacobs and Shafiq Said from the All Age 8 team. They have offered to prepare this newsletter and to revamp our tired old website. Fantastic job guys, your efforts are greatly appreciated.
All contributions are welcome. Please send us photos and activities involving your teams, as well as information on outstanding performances from players and/or teams. The match report doesn’t have to come from the coach or manager – parent input is also welcome. The players always get a kick out of seeing their name or team in print. It is also informative to the rest of the Club, who may not have been able to see the game.
Keep an eye out for the monthly newsletter (which will be in print). There will be offers from various small businesses in Campbelltown who have agreed to sponsor the Club in some way. Please take the time to note these and support them if you can.
I cannot stress enough the need for member involvement. This is your club. Without your assistance in the many jobs that need to be done, the club will cease to be. Make sure if your team is at home that someone is covering your canteen duty, or if your team has set-up or closed down, that there are enough helpers. This makes everyone’s job quicker and easier.
Thanks in advance to all the players, coaches, mangers & parents for the support they will give to their teams as well as the Ruse Football Club.
Here’s to a successful season for all of our players, enjoy this great game & all it has to offer. Remember to encourage your fellow players & respect your opposition.
